Kakuro online: free puzzles and a sum calculator
Kakuro is a crossword made of sums. Fill each run with digits 1 to 9 that add up to its clue, never repeating a digit in a run.
Rules
- Fill every white cell with a digit from 1 to 9.
- The digits in each run (across or down) add up to the clue shown in the black cell.
- No digit repeats within a run.
Example
Techniques
Unique combinations. Some sums can only be made one way. A sum of 4 in two cells must be 1 and 3. A sum of 16 in two cells must be 7 and 9. Start with those runs.
Crossing runs. A cell belongs to an across and a down run. A digit must be allowed by both, which narrows the candidates quickly.
Run check. When some cells of a run are known, the remaining cells must add up to the difference and use unused digits.
